Anastasios Sextos, Prof.

Meta-Resilience Advisor for
​Infrastructure Resilience

Anastasios Sextos is a Professor of Earthquake Engineering at the University of Bristol, UK.

He is the Head of the Earthquake and Geotechnical Engineering Research Group and the Director of the new UKCRIC National Facility for Soil-Foundation-Structure Interaction at Bristol.

He is the PI of several large EU- and UK-funded research projects, a member of the European Project Team for the Evolution of Structural Eurocodes, a member of the BSi 525/8 – Panel 7 for seismic design in the UK, the co-Chair of the European Association for Earthquake Engineering Work Group 11 for bridges and the elected President of the Hellenic Society of Earthquake Engineering (2017-2022).

He is an Associate Editor for the ASCE Journal of Structural Engineering, Earthquake Spectra, the Journal of Earthquake Engineering and the ASCE Journal of Pipeline Engineering. His research contributions are in the areas of experimental and computational earthquake engineering, dynamic soil-structure interaction and seismic resilience of critical infrastructure.

Glikeria Zygouris, MBCI

Meta-Resilience Advisor for
Organizational Resilience

Glikeria Zygouris is an Organizational Resilience Advisor, with extend of experience and exposure to challenging cases and multi-cultural environments.

She collaborates with organizations to enhance their business management systems, safeguard critical operations and increase their resilience through time, always aligned to their strategic goals.

Glikeria she has been collaborating with organizations to develop and implement Resilience Strategies for various industries, including Technology and Telecoms, Critical Infrastructure, Government, Energy, Financial Services, Sport Events (Olympic Games), as well as Healthcare.

One of her key accomplishments as an Organizational Resilience Advisor is the 100% success rate in audit compliance in resilience management systems.


Since 2008, Glikeria provides expert input to the NATO Civil Resilience Committee on Emergency & Crisis Management matters for the European Region.

As an engaged and passionate professional, she has established relationships with international resilience organizations and institutions in UK, Switzerland and USA.

Maria Xanthou, MA, MSc, PhD

Meta-Resilience Advisor for
Community Resilience

Dr Maria G. Xanthou FHEA LLB is a cultural and social historian and a community resilience expert. She taught cultural and ancient history at university level in the UK, the US, Greece, and Cyprus and has been awarded with fellowships from Harvard and Princeton Universities. She has long and accredited experience in community resilience metrics in the UK and the US.

She has been involved in large research
projects funded by UKRI focusing on countries challenged by natural and humanitarian hazards like Nepal and Malawi.

She collaborates with a University of Bristol-based interdisciplinary research team to develop bespoke measurement methods of community resilience, to facilitate resilience enhancement of educational communities, and to implement holistic approaches involving social key stakeholders like children, parents, and teachers, governmental decision-makers,
and financial actors towards increase of educational resilience.

Her research methodology employs modern anthropology and sociology tools to assess how different communities and societies deal with hazards.

Her approach is based on equality, diversity, and inclusion, as she strongly believes that each community develops, owns, and mobilizes different resilience social and economic patterns to respond to a wide array of natural and man-made hazards.

Thomas Nikolos, MA

Meta-Resilience Advisor for
Legal Impact

A lawyer by profession, Thomas Nikolos holds a Diploma from Law School, awarded in 2001, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Sociology.

He has considerable expertise in corporate practice, providing businesses with legal support in all areas of contract law, private international law, import/export legislation and the termination of agency and distribution agreements.

Thomas has acted as an adviser to local and international producers and has built a successful litigation practice, having successfully handled a wide range of cases involving various areas of law.

He also has particular knowledge of finance and banking matters, specifically secured and unsecured financing, corporate finance, acquisition financing, real estate finance and also regulatory issues, Stock Exchange regulations and securitization.

Over the past few years Thomas has specialized in risk and crisis management issues, especially the legal aspects of impact analysis, preparedness, recovery and restoration in the event of a business interruption to mitigate financial or criminal corporate liabilities.
